it's all over
my second attempt at the marathon has come and gone. Much improved time but still can't managed the distance without stopping. Ran 30 seconds too quick for 15 miles and probably paid the price later. A call of nature made me stop and consequently a few miles of walking till something clicked into place and ran the last 3 plus miles. It's time now to concentrate on other distances as I believe I do not have the stamina for such a distance.

nearly there
Well if it ain't enough well tough there is pretty much nothing I can do to affect the run but make sure I eat correctly. All the stuff is bought and it's Sunday or bust.

last week
The longest run completed and dowm to the bits and pieces-2mile runs are all that is left. After my three day rest I feel much better. Could go without the beer though. Going to have to be good for the remainder of the week or so.

beer and running
I have banged on long and hard about alcohol and running not mixing, I should have taken my own advice as today's run was the worst by far at around 3 miles it should have been a stroll but I couldn't even run it. No more beer till May the 8th.

bitter sweet
Today's run was bitter sweet-the first twenty mile under 10 min miles which was great. The downside being there was nothing left in the tank. The last of the long runs done and it's just a case of seeing it out-really cannot see 4h 30 mins marathon. We will have to see.

b'#ll'#cks
Slightly disappointing run and now pains in my legs-this is really beginning to piss me off. I only have three weeks and I am once again feeling at the bottom of the scale-today is the third day of rest. All i want to do is be healthy.

see saw
This weeks been a bit see saw-Wednesday usually a rest day was swapped for my five miler and jeez with was tough-a return to running with the club on Thursday was much better my fastest mile since taking up running at 6:40. I dislike the 3 miles run 1 by 1 with 5 mins between miles. Tonights three miler was mixed. Looking forward to my 16 miler tomorrow. Feeling much more confident than pre Rutland.

Time is of the essence
The last weeks runs have by and large been pretty good. 12 niles sub 2hours and last nights 5 miles run in around 8.30 pace being the high points. Three one mile runs with a five minute rest was tough work.

been a little while
Been a couple of week since my last entry and the roller coaster goes on. The end of last week's exercise had to be cancelled due to gout type attack again. The times are gradually improving thr diet is yoyoing. Eight weeks to go and I'm feeling good, very tired but confident,

surpassing my expectations
Today's run was possibly a turning point. Three little miles round my local area, in the scheme of things nothing much, very short by my standards but ran in 23.30 on a hilly course makes me a happy man. My new running shoes are super too.

focus

oh how easy the focus goes, to be fair thou' my 50th has come and gone. Eight mile run on Saturday which was once again wet, windy and hilly. A new pair of Saucony shoes are on their way to me courtesy of my work collegues. My data entry is becoming a little lax. Slight groin strain is becoming a little problematic. Today's run has been cancelled in favour of 30 mins on the bike X box, dvd's and the internet have all become tools to use.

getting back there
Today's run was meant to be a recovery run, nice and gentle. The reality was the fastest I've run for some time sub nine min mile on a hilly course. Think that I really need to change my long run to Saturday and make Sunday my recovery run. Feeling pretty tired and constantly hungary but I am sixteen pounds lighter than New years day and regularly sub ten mins which was a problem early January. It's all heading in the right direction, I am enjoying my own company training wise. A very positve week.

on the up
four weeks in and it's coming together nicely. I'm a stone lighter and five miles on a hilly windy course in just over nine minute miles. The diet is being stuck to religously and the exercise routine is spot on.

same old etc
Three weeks into my latest plan and lo and behold The dreaded gout is back, just as I was making headway into a fitter existance the dreaded affliction strikes. A trip to the quack's and at least I'm getting a blood test. I just hope that the exercise isn't the trigger that starts the pain. This week has been truly annoying with a awful cough, the gout and a case of the trots. On the plus side Mandy is back in the swing of things and I've been told I'm wasting away-bit of an exaggeration.

dawning of an old era
Things are always fluid and sometimes you know when it's right to change. Tonight I have decided to revert to solo training. I shall miss the club but I feel the time is right to go back to my old ways. Respect to all the members and I hope it goes well for them.

week two
Nearly half a stone lighter and now upto six miles ran, things are beginning to feel slightly better and my mood is on the rise. Six days a week exercise feels good at the moment, not missing the chocolate or the beer. I keep telling people it's all in the mind both running and dieting.

we're getting there
The corners been turned. The diet's going well nearly six pound off in under two weeks and the exercise is going nicely.I have sixteen weeks until Stratford marathon. On a different note Mandy is seven weeks away from her Silverstone half, which she is being sponsored. The charity is Cancer related and the anount is coning along nicely.

new year new start
2011 opened with a wimper, finally got my running shoes on with a view to a steady three miler. 1 mile into it and I'm walking. My legs are shot and I look like pregnant. Diet started, no beer, no sweets and no junk food. I think I will have to work extremely hard over the next month to get anywhere near my old level. I cannot believe I have been so stupid. I am due to run a marathon in May and I am already fretting about it. Still not sure which way I want to go in respect of training.
On a different tack, the website is now defunct. Wishing everyone a happy new year.Got some new gear for xmas.
